"Seeking fully inclusive spirituality for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning Methodists..."
The Reconciling Ministries Community
within the South Indiana Conference
is a community of (mostly) United Methodist people seeking the full expression of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, including the full inclusion of persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities, into the life of the church through fellowship, worship, study and advocacy.
We develop local, and support national, initiatives to secure fully inclusive membership in the United Methodist Church. Responding to the Biblical mandate to seek justice and to support and protect the most vulnerable people, the community will advocate for and stand with all persons who are excluded from the full life of the church.
There is discriminatory language in The United Methodist Book of Discipline, added there in recent years through the efforts of a well-organized group of sincere conservative Methodists, and others. Following that language makes the UMC discriminatory. This needs to be changed. Of course, the overall U.S. societal homophobia has its unfortunate impact in every local congregation, so the task at hand is much larger than a few words in a book. . .

We're talking full GLBT inclusion here, membership, staff, ministers, seminary students, Elders. Bishops...
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and questioning persons.
Other churches have other names for their groups concerned with the same issues.
We are "reconciling United Methodists." Our community is NOT a part of, and receives no funds from, the official United Methodist Church organization. To donate, see "about us," tab, above.
